19 of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been earned on hard surfaces
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his initial title for 882 days with success over Corentin Moutet in the tournament title decider.
The athlete, a former number one, has had a torrid year, managing just one match at the Grand Slams and suffering a difficult moment at the New York tournament.
The player's varied form on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serve in particular - caused him falling of the elite rankings and ultimately splitting with former trainer his previous coach.
Presently training with his coach and his other coach, the tennis star has steadily improved in the last few weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought competitive triumph over challenger Corentin Moutet.
This represents his first championship after the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard court since March of 2023.
Success also signifies Medvedev has achieved twenty-one championships at twenty-one different tournaments.
"For the first time I am participating in a tournament with my children together, so to win a trophy is really nice," commented world number 14 the champion.
"This title is in honour of my second daughter her name, because the maiden victory I achieved when my child my daughter was born was for her."
Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his previous six title deciders, including in the German tournament previously this season.
The player's counter-punching approach and recurring outbursts on the tennis court had caused observers to doubt if his skill to play at the top level was finished.
Yet the player has implemented adjustments in the past month, striving to come to the net and play assertively, backed up by an enhanced service.
He came back from a break down in the initial set against the tricky opponent, securing four of the last five exchanges to gain the advantage.
The pair swapped breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, striving for his initial ATP Tour championship, took control to force a third set.
The opponent defended four initial break points in a close deciding set before Medvedev broke to fifteen to close out the victory.
Suitably, he clinched the win with a point at the net area, with the Frenchman incapable to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
